CJ 301 - Organized Crime This course discusses the nature and problems of the criminal organization including historic roots; casual factors of organized crime in American society; activities, organizations, and economics of organized crime including the trafficking of controlled substances; the problem of corruption and graft; and the development of strategies to control the activities of organized crime, drug trafficking organizations including drug cartels and outlaw motorcycle gangs, gangs, and the new ethnic mobs. Proactive strategies of investigation are presented including the use of undercover police officers, confidential informants, and electronic surveillance.
