LIT 220 - Later British Literature This course is a chronological, historical survey that consists of three primary components: 1) it covers the British literary tradition from the late eighteenth century to the present; 2) it introduces students to a range of texts and genres; 3) it offers a balance of major and minor works from both within the accepted literary canon and outside of it. Students will be exposed to the significant historical, political, economic, intellectual, and social events and movements that characterize the Romantic, Victorian, and Modern periods. Students will earn about the diversity of the English literary tradition in terms of genre, gender, and subject matter.
