LIT 250 - Textual Perspectives-African American Literature


This course considers the rich body of literature produced by African-American writers. Units may cover Black Africans enslaved in a new world, slavery and freedom narratives, Reconstruction, the Harlem Renaissance, protest literature, integrationists, civil protests and the Black Arts Movement, and contemporary African-American literature. This course satisfies the American Literature component of the English major and fulfills the Human Diversity requirement. Prerequisite: sophomore standing or permission of the instructor.
