OT 328 - OT in Mental & Behavioral Health This course will analyze the effects and treatment of mental and behavioral health challenges, including psychosocial, social-emotional, and functional cognitive deficits that effect occupational performance. Use of standardized and non-standardized assessments, interpretation of test scores, and design and implementation of intervention strategies and procedures will be explored. The development of effective communication and collaboration skills will be emphasized, including therapeutic use of self in both individual and group interactions. Access to community resources, education, training, and advocacy for individuals with mental health challenges will be examined. In addition to lecture content, practice and performance skills will be developed and reinforced during weekly laboratory sessions and refined during level I fieldwork.
