POS 310 - Public Policy & Advocacy Public policy affects our everyday lives in countless ways, shaping our choices and the outcomes of those choices. This class will explore how values affect public policymaking and examine the best attempts in the Political Science literature to explain how public policy is made in the American system. This course explores the foundations and theories of public policymaking, including policymaking institutions, and the stages of public policy formation. It will address contemporary areas of public policy and focus on solutions to existing policy problems. Students will develop the knowledge and tools necessary to be effective advocates in the political system, focusing on strategies that can induce policy change.
