LDR 620 - Organizational Leadership Theory

This course examines the foundations and applications of leadership and organizational theory. Emphasis is placed on the application of leadership theory in pragmatic organizational situations. The utility of organization theory as a tool for orienting ones thinking and for understanding the complexity involved in organizational dynamics is emphasized. The ability as a leader to comprehend and apply organization theory to problems as a way to emerge different underlying processes, systems, and forces, as opposed to focusing on mere symptoms, is a critical first step for developing robust solutions. This course will touch upon strategy, organizational analysis, vision, workplace culture, conflict management, communication, and other related characteristics of organizational leadership.
