PA 580 - Fundamentals of Behavioral & Mental Health This course provides instruction in behavioral & mental health and will expose students to the principles of psychological disorders. Students will begin the approach to behavioral & mental health through the study of physiology, pathophysiology, epidemiology, etiology, presentation, diagnostic work-up, differential diagnosis, assessment, management with both non-pharmacologic and pharmacologic treatment, prognosis, patient education, counseling skills, and population health aspects of acute and chronic psychological conditions. The format includes formal lectures, readings, discussions, assignments, and case presentations. Learners will develop clinical reasoning and problem-solving skills through small case-based group sessions, simulations, and practice lab sessions.
