Middle States Commission on Higher Education (MSCHE)

Since 1967, the Middle States Commission on Higher Education (MSCHE) has granted Alvernia University full accreditation. The most recent reaffirmation of accreditation was granted in June 2025.

Pennsylvania Department of Education

The Education program for Early Childhood Education (Prek-4) and Special Education Certificate are approved by the Pennsylvania Department of Education.

Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy Education (ACOTE) of the American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA)

The entry-level Master of Science in Occupational Therapy program is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy Education (ACOTE) of the American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA).

Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE)

The Bachelor of Science in Nursing program is approved by the Pennsylvania State Board of Nursing and is accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE).

Commission on Accreditation of Athletic Training Education (CAATE)

The Master of Athletic Training program is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Athletic Training Education (CAATE).

Council on Social Work Education (CSWE)

The Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) program is accredited by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE).

Pennsylvania Certification Board

The Addictions and Mental Health Treatment Program courses may be utilized for professional certification by the Pennsylvania Certification Board.

Accreditation Council of Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP)

The following business programs in the Header School of Business are accredited by the Accreditation Council of Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP): Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting, Human Resources Management, Marketing, Management, Sport Management, the Associate Degree in Business and the Master of Business Administration Degree.

The Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT)

The Medical Imaging Program (in partnership with the Reading Hospital School of Health Sciences) is accredited by The Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT).

The Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP)

The Surgery Technology Program (in partnership with the Reading Hospital School of Health Sciences) is accredited by The Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP).

Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education (CAPTE)

The Doctor of Physical Therapy Program is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education (CAPTE).

Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN)

The Applied Health Program (Nursing Program of the Reading Hospital School of Health Sciences) is accredited by the Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN).

Joint Review Committee on Diagnostic Medical Sonography (JRC-DMS)

The Diagnostic Medical Sonography Program (in partnership with the Reading Hospital School of Health Sciences) secured initial accreditation status with the Joint Review Committee on Diagnostic Medical Sonography (JRC-DMS) in 2021 and is up for reaccreditation in 2026.

Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs (CACREP)

The Master of Clinical Counseling Program is accredited by the Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs (CACREP).

The Master of Medical Science in Physician Associate Studies is granted Accreditation-Provisional status by the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA). Accreditation-Provisional is an accreditation status granted when the plans and resource allocation, if fully implemented as planned, of a proposed program that has not yet enrolled students appear to demonstrate the program’s ability to meet the ARC-PA Standards or when a program holding Accreditation-Provisional status appears to demonstrate continued progress in complying with the Standards as it prepares for the graduation of the first class (cohort) of students. Accreditation-Provisional does not ensure any subsequent accreditation status. It is limited to no more than five years from matriculation of the first class.
