SEC 604 - Common Ground: Diversity Objectives and Safety/Wellness and Trauma-Informed Practices

This course examines diversity, cultural awareness, and trauma-informed practices in special education. Candidates will explore strategies to build inclusive, safe, and supportive learning environments that address cultural and linguistic diversity, student wellness, and trauma-responsive teaching. In addition to instructional strategies, the course prepares candidates to recognize and respond to students’ physical and emotional needs through training in caring for student health needs and emergency response protocols. Candidates will gain awareness of procedures related to school safety through Act 55 School Safety and Security Training, as well as complete Act 126 Mandated Reporter Training, which equips educators to identify and report suspected child abuse.
