Return to: Programs of Study
The Engineering Experience and Professional Skills (EEPS) Minor prepares students to connect their classroom learning with real-world engineering practice. Through a combination of professional preparation, project management, and technical communication courses, students develop the core skills needed to succeed in the workplace. Guided internship or research experiences allow students to apply engineering principles in professional settings while building independence, technical competence, and confidence. Designed for flexibility, the minor can be completed alongside any engineering or engineering technology major and provides a transcripted credential that highlights practical experience, communication ability, and career readiness.

Core Coursework (10 cr)
Students must complete the following courses: Internship & Research Experience (9 cr)
Students must complete a minimum of 9 credits through internship or research experiences. Although the typical sequence is to take EGR 285, then EGR 385, and then EGR 485, students may substitute a higher-level course in place of a lower-level course to fulfill this requirement. EGR x85 courses may be repeated for credit, provided each instance involves a distinct internship or research experience. Each credit requires 42 documented hours of approved experience, pre-approved by the instructor and supported by a formal partnership agreement between the host organization and Alvernia University. Experiences may be either paid or unpaid. |
